Using a Mail Organizer

Having to juggle junk mail and important mail can sometimes be a pain. This is where getting a mail organizer can be of great use. One of the problems that many people have is mixing up their mail. This isn’t too much of a problem if most of the mails are unimportant but when you have bills mixed in there, it can become a huge problem. Many people have gotten into financial trouble all because of this problem. This article will discuss how you can get your mail more organized by using one of these organizers for your mail

If you read some of the other articles that deal with organization products, then you will know that simply buying organizers won’t do you much good unless you get into the habit of using them correctly. But before we get into that, let’s take a deeper look at how not having mail organizers has caused many people a lot of money.

One of the growing problems that people face today is debt. More specifically, credit card debt. Using a credit card isn’t always as bad as many people make them out to be. They can be a convenient way to make purchases as long as you pay off the balances. The problem arises when people start to miss payments due to having unorganized mail. Many people end up having bad credit simply because they don’t have a system of organizing their mail in a way that will make sure they are never late with their payments. Once fees and higher interest rates are involves, that’s when people start to really fall behind. The problem just keeps getting worse and worse.

This is why using a mail organizer is so important if you have a problem with having too much mail. So let’s look at how to best use one of these products once you get them.

1. Create piles.

The first thing you will want to do is to create different slots for different types of mail. You will typically want to create 4 slots. One is for important mail such as bills and tax stuff. Another slot will be for things you need to keep for a while such as bank statements and other forms. The third slot will be for mail you need to send out. The fourth slot is really just the garbage can. Junk mail goes into the trash.

2. Deal with urgent mail right away.

With the first slot, you will want to ideally handle the piece of mail right away. You never want to have to pick up the same piece of mail more than 3 times. The first time you pick up a piece of mail, either handle it now or store it. For bills, the best thing to do is to just handle it right away. However, sometimes, this may be difficult especially if you don’t have the funds in the bank account until the end of the month. In this case, you will want to write the check for the bill and just put it into the send out box.

A great way to make sure you mail out your bills on time is to get one of those 30 day mail organizers. These organizers have a slot for each day of the month. Just put the mail you need to send out several days before it’s due. Each day, just check the slot that belongs to that particular day to see if you have any mail you need to send out.
Of course, if you can, the best thing to do is to pay your bills online. Not only will you be saving paper and money on stamps, everything will be automated so you don’t even have to think about it.

Now let’s talk about buying a mail organizer. If you search online, you will see a lot of different types of these products. You have a wall mail organizer that can convenient hang near your telephone where you can even hang your car keys on or you can get the ones that sit on your desk. The hanging mail organizer lets you use the product for more than just storing mail. Any type of home mail organizer is fine. As long as it has enough slots to help you separate your different types of mail, then you will be fine. Getting them online will usually save you more money as well as time opposed to buying them in the stores.

Remember, a mail organizer can become useless if you don’t use it correctly. By setting up a system where you will know exactly what to do with each piece of mail, you will greatly decrease the chances of losing important mail or missing a bill payment. Also remember the rule about never handling a piece of mail more than 3 times. Either handle it, store it, or toss it.
