The Convenience of Portable Closets

by Kelly

Whether you are running out of room in your closet and have no where else to store your clothes or you have someone moving into your home to stay for a few weeks and extra wardrobe space is needed, portable closets can be the solution to your problem. Let’s face it, a messy, over used closet is as common as birds chirping in the morning. For many people, they will put up with a cluttered closet for years on end. If you have had enough with having to rummage through your wardrobe just to find your favorite shirt but only to find that it needs some serious ironing done on it at a time when you’re running late, then it’s time to create more storage space.

It would be nice if you can just move your extra clothes into your kids’ closet or perhaps your extra closet but let’s face it; we don’t want our kids to be complaining about taking up their closet space and seriously, who has an extra closet just sitting around? One solution would be to install another one or upgrade and expand your existing one. This will only cost you an arm and maybe both legs. Another solution is to buy a dresser but this can be expensive as well. This is why a portable closet is an ideal solution.

These portable clothes closets can come in a variety of different ways but in general, what you will have is a 5 foot tall, light weight frame that comes with a hanging rod and a cover the will zip up to protect the clothes from dust and bugs. Some will come with shelves built inside the closet or even underneath. Other models will come with doors instead of being enclosed in a fabric. You won’t need any tools to assemble these things together and since they come with wheels, you can easily move them from one room to another.

Another great thing about a portable storage closet is that, unlike the other options mentioned above, it is relatively inexpensive. You can get most types for under $50. The price will depend on the durability of the material that it’s made of as well as the dimensions of the closet. Although some will look on the cheap side, there are other ones that you can get that will look somewhat like cabinets, only they won’t be made of wood. These are the ones that will come with doors instead of a zipped up cover.

If you are using it for yourself to store extra clothes, then the best way to use a portable closet wardrobe is to first toss out or give away clothes that you haven’t touched in ages. Just doing this alone may put you in a situation where you might not even need to buy one of these things. After you do that, you will probably want to store your less used clothes into these closets and store them in the garage if you don’t have a lot of space in your bedroom. In any situation, whether you just want more storage space for yourself or you need to provide your temporary stay-in guests with one or even if you are a college student living in a dorm or a small apartment where the closet size is laughable, portable closets can definitely come handy.
